Misophonia and Nutrition

This concept, which has been in the literature since 2001 as misophonia or misophonia, refers to a crowd that we are not far from, perhaps we are in.

This condition, which is formed by the combination of the Latin words misos (hate) and phone (sound), is also expressed as selective sound sensitivity syndrome. In fact, it occurs with the development of psychological and physiological symptoms resulting from a special structural abnormality in the brain.

There are studies that suggest that this condition, the cause of which is still being investigated, may be more common than expected and that increases the possibility of having a hereditary etiology. Although it is not known exactly how many people have it, it is thought that 1 out of every 5 people has this disorder.

Misophonia tests are applied by some specialist psychiatrists, clinical psychologists and audiologists, which measure the level of discomfort from these sounds by making the person listen to some sounds.

 

The misophonic response appears to be an involuntary physical and emotional reflex caused by sound. Sound directly activates the autonomic nervous system in the brain stem and the limbic system associated with emotion. This is the direct link between sound and reflex response.

 

Misophonic individuals suddenly find themselves in a social cramp and discomfort with the triggering sound. If the continuity and intensity of these voices increase or continue, the person loses their self-control and may become aggressive and tend to violence.

 

The most common symptoms of misophonia are:

 

Don't close your ears to annoying sounds

Avoidance or desire to avoid noise

Nervous, irritable, anxious, and paranoid behaviors

As the sounds continue, the feeling of tightness in the chest, stress, anxiety, anxiety

Being constantly stressed due to environmental noises during the day and experiencing the feeling of peace that comes from silence at night,

Inability to tolerate baby and child crying,

Do not be bothered by the rhythmic shaking of someone else's feet or the sounds made by rhythmically tapping an object.

Clock ticking or rhythmic sounds that are normally found in social environments

Mouth smacking, chewing gum and slurping drinking sounds are the most disturbing sounds.

As a different example: Children who want to leave the table just because they are uncomfortable cannot get enough nutrition. When families force them to finish their meal at this point, they consume it quickly. A child who quickly finishes his or her food is generally not a problem for families.

This habit persists and may spread throughout his life. Here, we may encounter problems related to the digestive system such as gastritis and reflux, as well as obesity and overweight due to very fast consumption habits.
